Tragedy at Campbell Hall: What Really Happened in the School Parking Lot?

A devastating accident at Campbell Hall School in Studio City left the community in shock after a 15-year-old student was killed and five others were injured in a parking lot collision on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident unfolded just after p.m. as students were being picked up at the end of the school day. According to authorities, the teenager was walking between parked vehicles in the carpool area when a green Rivian SUV, driven by another student’s sibling, suddenly lurched forward and pinned him between two SUVs. The boy’s father, present at the scene to pick up his son, witnessed the tragedy unfold. Emergency responders rushed the gravely injured teen to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Five additional people—including two minors and three adults—sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the crash. The Los Angeles Police Department described the event as a tragic accident, noting that no criminal charges are expected. Investigators believe the driver may have accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake while waiting in the carpool line.

Classes and final exams at Campbell Hall were canceled the following day, with grief counselors and chaplains available to support students, staff, and families. The school, known for its prominent alumni and tight-knit community, is focusing on healing as it mourns the loss of one of its own.

The name of the student has not been released, and the school has asked for privacy for the family during this difficult time.
