New Jersey Braces for Historic Snowfall as Travel Bans and Power Outages Deteriorate Conditions

A powerful winter storm has swept through New Jersey, leaving behind significant snowfall totals that have overwhelmed the state and disrupted daily life. With more than a foot of snow in most areas and over two feet in some regions, the blizzard has prompted widespread travel restrictions and power outages.

The storm, which began overnight, has resulted in a New Jersey travel ban and a state of emergency, causing power outages and school closures. Areas along the New Jersey shore have been particularly affected, with reports of over two feet of snow. The situation is especially critical in Atlantic City, where Atlantic City Electric has been working to restore power.

In response to the NJ travel ban, the state has imposed a travel ban until noon, with the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management citing ongoing blizzard-like conditions and heavy snowfall as the reason for the extension. The storm has also led to a widespread travel restrictions in some counties, further complicating transportation and emergency services.

As the state grapples with the aftermath, residents are encouraged to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. The Jersey Central Power & Light (JCPL) has been actively working alongside Atlantic City Electric to restore power and manage the outages. The snowfall totals in New Jersey have been unprecedented, with some areas receiving over 24 inches of snow in just 24 hours.
