Austin Riley delivered a dramatic performance Sunday night, smashing two two-run homers and lifting the Atlanta Braves to a narrow 4-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers, snapping the Dodgers’ seven-game winning streak and preventing a season sweep by L.A.
Riley’s blasts, both off Dodgers starter Dustin May, marked his eighth career multi-homer game and pushed his season total to eight home runs. May (1-2) struggled early, surrendering four runs on five hits over 5 2/3 innings, while striking out six. Bryce Elder (2-1) countered with a solid start for Atlanta, fanning six and allowing just two runs in five-plus innings.
The Braves’ bullpen held on late, with closer Raisel Iglesias striking out two with the tying run on third to secure his sixth save. This win was Atlanta’s first over the Dodgers in six tries this season, providing a much-needed morale boost after a string of tough losses.
The Dodgers now head to Miami, while the Braves prepare for a home series against Cincinnati.
