Winter Storm Warning: Heavy Snowfall Expected in Snoqualmie Pass

A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for the Snoqualmie Pass area, with significant snowfall expected to impact travel and daily life.

Beginning at 5:00 PM on March 10, 2026, the Weather Channel has forecasted a period of intense winter weather, spanning until 5:00 AM on March 13, 2026. This advisory is particularly critical for areas like the Cascades, Stevens Pass, and Snoqualmie Pass, where snow accumulations are anticipated to be severe.

According to the National Weather Service, the winter storm warning is in effect from 5:00 PM on March 10, 2026, until 5:00 AM on March 13, 2026, with snow accumulations ranging between 12 to 18 inches in higher elevations.

Residents and travelers should be prepared for hazardous road conditions, including temporary road closures and difficult travel on key routes such as U.S. Highway 2 at Stevens Pass and State Route 542 towards the Mount Baker area.

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has also issued warnings, predicting the possibility of 3 to 7 inches of new snow accumulation and west winds with gusts as high as 21 mph, which could exacerbate travel difficulties.

In addition to the winter storm warning, a Winter Weather Advisory is also in effect for Snoqualmie and White Passes, with expected snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches through Tuesday morning.

The Cascades are anticipated to receive one to two feet of snow as moisture-laden clouds continue to dump precipitation, making conditions particularly treacherous for drivers.

This heavy snowfall is part of a broader weather pattern affecting Washington's mountain passes, which have already seen up to 2 feet of snow from Tuesday into Wednesday, with another foot or two expected by Thursday.

Residents and travelers in the affected areas are advised to stay informed through reliable weather sources and to take necessary precautions to ensure safety during this severe winter weather event.
