LSU Shreveport Baseball’s Perfect Season: The Record No One Saw Coming

LSU Shreveport’s baseball team has stunned the sports world, making history with a feat never before achieved in college baseball: a perfect 59-0 season capped by their first-ever NAIA national championship.

The Pilots clinched the title with a 13-7 victory over Southeastern University (Florida) in Lewiston, Idaho, overcoming early deficits and surging ahead with a relentless offense. This win not only secured the national championship but also marked the first time any college baseball team has finished a season undefeated.

LSU Shreveport’s dominance was evident throughout the year. The team outscored NAIA World Series opponents 49-17 and posted 27 double-digit wins, including lopsided scores of 37-0 and 42-4 earlier in the season Every player with at least 100 at-bats hit over .300, and three Pilots—Ryan Davenport, Anthony Swenda, and Josh Gibson—topped .400 at the plate.

Pitching was just as formidable: Isaac Rohde led the NAIA with 146 strikeouts and a 16-0 record, while the team’s ERA was a stellar.38, more than a run better than their closest competitor The Pilots also led the nation with a .982 fielding percentage, underscoring their all-around excellence.

This unprecedented run shattered the previous college baseball win-streak record, set at 46 by Division II Savannah State, and established LSU Shreveport as a powerhouse in the NAIA, where they have been a top contender for over two decades.

As celebrations continue in Shreveport, the question on everyone’s mind: Can the Pilots repeat this perfection next season?
