Svitolina Survives Pera Test—What’s Next for the Ukrainian Star at Roland Garros?

Elina Svitolina battled past American Bernarda Pera in a tense third-round clash at Roland Garros, winning 7-6, 7-6 to secure her place in the last sixteen The match, played on the clay of Court Simonne-Mathieu, saw both players push each other to the limit, with Svitolina’s experience and composure proving decisive in the crucial moments.

Pera, ranked 83rd in the world, had impressed earlier in the tournament by defeating Caroline Garcia and Donna Vekic, but Svitolina—seeded 13th—held her nerve in both tiebreaks to advance The Ukrainian has yet to drop a set in Paris this year and extends her strong clay-court form, having recently won in Rouen and reached the semifinals in Madrid.

With this victory, Svitolina sets up a highly anticipated fourth-round showdown against last year’s finalist, Jasmine Paolini, promising another high-stakes encounter as the French Open intensifies.
