Dallas Baptist University’s baseball season came to a dramatic close at the Baton Rouge Regional, falling 8-6 to Little Rock in the semifinals at Alex Box Stadium. The Patriots, who finished their season with a strong 41-18 record, battled back from an early deficit to briefly take the lead, but Little Rock’s late-inning homers and bullpen strength proved too much to overcome.
Earlier in the regional, DBU faced powerhouse LSU and suffered a 12-0 shutout, with Tigers left-hander Kade Anderson dominating on the mound and Chris Stanfield driving in three runs LSU’s win propelled them to the regional championship round, where they are set to face Little Rock, who advanced to their first-ever regional final after back-to-back upsets.
LSU, now 45-14 on the season, continues its postseason push with eyes on Omaha, while DBU’s impressive campaign ends just short of a super regional berth. The question remains: can Little Rock pull off another shocker, or will LSU’s dominance continue in Baton Rouge?
