The Rip on Netflix: Why Are Matt Damon and Ben Affleck Teaming Up Again? Release Date Revealed

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are reuniting for the highly anticipated crime thriller "The Rip," set to premiere on Netflix January, 2026. Written and directed by Joe Carnahan, the film follows a group of Miami cops who stumble upon millions in cash hidden in a derelict stash house. As word spreads about the massive seizure, trust within the team unravels and outside threats close in, forcing everyone to question their loyalties.

The star-studded cast includes Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle, Néstor Carbonell, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Kyle Chandler, Scott Adkins, and Lina Esco. Damon and Affleck, who are also producing through their company Artists Equity, bring their signature chemistry to a gritty story inspired by true events.

Originally slated for a 2025 release, "The Rip" was delayed and will now debut exclusively on Netflix in early 2026. The film promises a tense, character-driven ride that explores the limits of trust and ambition in law enforcement’s dark underbelly.
