West Indies vs England: A Rain Delay, a Dramatic Chase—But Who Emerged on Top?

England completed a dominant 3-0 ODI series sweep over the West Indies with a seven-wicket victory in a rain-shortened third match at The Oval. The West Indies posted 251 for in their 40 overs, thanks to Sherfane Rutherford’s 70 and Gudakesh Motie’s career-best 63, with the pair rescuing the visitors from a top-order collapse and adding a record eighth-wicket stand against England.

England’s chase, set at a revised 246 by the DLS method, was led by Jamie Smith’s explosive 64 off 28 balls and Ben Duckett’s quickfire 58. Joe Root contributed 44, while captain Harry Brook (26*) and Jos Buttler (41*) finished the job in just 29.4 overs, sealing the whitewash with a six.

The West Indies, hampered by a late arrival due to London traffic and early wickets, have not beaten England in an ODI away from home since 2007. England now shift focus to the upcoming T20I series, riding high on confidence after their comprehensive series win.
