Chicago Fire FC delivered a statement win on the road, defeating Orlando City SC 3-1 at Inter&Co Stadium on Saturday night. The visitors seized control early, with Philip Zinckernagel opening the scoring in the 5th minute after a rare goalkeeping error from Pedro Gallese.
Hugo Cuypers then struck twice in rapid succession, netting goals in the 31st and 32nd minutes—both assisted by Zinckernagel—to give Chicago a commanding 3-0 lead before halftime Orlando responded with a header from Alex Freeman in the 39th minute, but despite dominating possession and outshooting Chicago 28 to, the Lions could not close the gap.
The result marks Chicago’s fifth road win of the season and Orlando’s first home loss to the Fire since 2019 Orlando City now heads into the international break looking to regroup, while Chicago builds momentum for their next matchup against D.C. United.
