Ratledge, who played right guard in college, has been taking first-team snaps at center during offseason workouts and rookie minicamp While he lacks game experience at center, Ratledge’s versatility and physicality have drawn praise from Detroit’s coaching staff. Offensive line coach Hank Fraley acknowledged Ratledge needs more training at the position, but expressed confidence that the rookie could develop into a reliable anchor for the line.

Veteran Graham Glasgow is another option. Glasgow, who has experience at both guard and center, served as Ragnow’s backup last season and could be called upon if Ratledge isn’t ready for the starting role.
