Oklahoma Softball Survives Oregon—But Where Was Nijaree Canady?

Oklahoma’s quest for a fifth consecutive national title stayed alive Sunday night with a 4-1 victory over Oregon in a high-stakes Women’s College World Series elimination game. The Sooners, led by legendary coach Patty Gasso, bounced back from a tough loss to Texas, showing resilience and power at the plate.

Oklahoma’s bats came alive with three home runs, providing all the offense needed to eliminate the Ducks. Oregon, coming off a dramatic extra-inning win over Ole Miss, struck first with a solo homer from Dez Patman, but couldn’t keep pace as the Sooners responded with long balls of their own.

The Ducks’ season ended despite a strong run through the tournament, while Oklahoma advances, keeping its dynasty hopes intact. Notably absent from the pitching circle was Stanford ace Nijaree Canady, who did not appear for either team, as she is not on the Oklahoma or Oregon roster in this WCWS matchup.

Patty Gasso’s squad now prepares for its next challenge, aiming to add another championship to an already historic run.
