Jazz Chisholm Jr. made a thunderous return to the New York Yankees lineup, delivering the decisive blow in a tight 3-2 victory over the Cleveland Guardians. Activated from the injured list after missing 28 games with a right oblique strain, Chisholm wasted no time making an impact, launching a tiebreaking solo home run off Guardians starter Tanner Bibee on the very first pitch of the seventh inning.
Chisholm’s blast, a 358-foot shot into the right-center field seats, marked his eighth homer of the season and put the Yankees ahead for good. Just six pitches later, Anthony Volpe followed with a home run of his own, giving New York back-to-back homers and a cushion they would not relinquish.
Earlier in the game, Chisholm also sparked a fifth-inning rally with a bloop single—New York’s first hit off Bibee—before scoring the tying run. Bibee, despite a strong outing with six strikeouts over 1/3 innings, was ultimately undone by the long ball, surrendering three runs on four hits and throwing a season-high 107 pitches.
Chisholm’s return to third base was notable, as he flashed his defensive skills and provided the Yankees with much-needed energy. His performance helped the Yankees secure their 11th win in games, keeping momentum high as the team continues its playoff push.
