Michael Tait, former lead singer of the Newsboys and co-founder of DC Talk, is facing multiple allegations of sexual misconduct, grooming, and substance abuse. The accusations, which span incidents reportedly occurring between 2004 and 2014, were detailed in a recent investigative report and involve claims from three men who allege sexual assault and inappropriate behavior during music tours and private encounters. Some accusers also described instances of drug use involving Tait.
The Newsboys, who announced Tait’s departure in January 2025, issued a public statement expressing devastation and outrage over the allegations. The band emphasized their support for the alleged victims, urging anyone affected to come forward, and unequivocally condemned all forms of sexual assault. They revealed that Tait had confessed to "leading a double life" when he left the group, but said they were shocked by the extent of the claims now made public.
As of now, Michael Tait has not publicly addressed the allegations. No criminal charges have been announced, and the band has not provided further comment beyond their initial statement.
