Panthers Stun Oilers in Double Overtime—But Who Sealed the Deal?

The Florida Panthers edged out the Edmonton Oilers 5-4 in a thrilling double-overtime victory Friday night, leveling the Stanley Cup Final at one game apiece and setting up a dramatic return to South Florida for Game.

Brad Marchand was the hero for Florida, netting his second goal of the night just over eight minutes into the second overtime period. The Panthers had to regroup quickly after Edmonton’s Corey Perry tied the game with just seconds left in regulation, marking the latest game-tying goal in Stanley Cup Final history.

Sergei Bobrovsky was outstanding in net for the Panthers, making 42 saves—including several key stops during the extra frames. Sam Bennett, Seth Jones, and Dmitry Kulikov also found the back of the net for Florida, while Anton Lundell contributed two crucial assists.

The Oilers, led by Connor McDavid’s three assists and goals from Evander Kane, Evan Bouchard, and Leon Draisaitl, kept the pressure on all night. Goalie Stuart Skinner stopped 37 shots but couldn’t deny Marchand’s game-winner.

Both games of this series have gone to overtime, underscoring just how evenly matched these teams are. The action resumes Monday as the series shifts to Amerant Bank Arena, with the Stanley Cup still very much up for grabs.
