Mads Mikkelsen Returns as Casino Royale’s Le Chiffre—But There’s a Twist in Hitman

Mads Mikkelsen, famed for his chilling portrayal of Le Chiffre in the 2006 James Bond classic Casino Royale, is back in the spotlight—this time as a digital adversary in Hitman: World of Assassination. IO Interactive revealed the surprise crossover during Summer Game Fest 2025, sending shockwaves through both gaming and Bond fan communities.

Players can now face off against Mikkelsen’s iconic villain, who appears as “The Banker” in a new Elusive Target mission set in the opulent Casino Monarchique in Paris. The mission, available from June to July, 2025, challenges Agent 47 to infiltrate a high-stakes poker game and eliminate Le Chiffre, who’s desperate to recover from a disastrous financial loss.

Mikkelsen himself provides both the likeness and voice for the character, adding a layer of authenticity and suspense to the experience. “Le Chiffre is a character I have always enjoyed—he’s calculating, cold, and ruthless. Bringing him into the world of Hitman makes for a thrilling collaboration,” Mikkelsen said in a statement.

This special event also celebrates IO Interactive’s upcoming James Bond project, 007: First Light, set for release in 2026. Players who complete the mission and link their IOI account unlock exclusive in-game rewards for the new Bond title.

The “Banker” mission is live now on PC and consoles, but only for a limited time. For those eager to relive the tension of Casino Royale—with a Hitman twist—now’s the moment to act.
