Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter’s Broadway Reunion: Why “Bill & Ted” Fans Are Counting Down to September

Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter, the iconic duo from Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, stunned fans with a surprise reunion at the 2025 Tony Awards in New York City. But the real headline? The pair are teaming up for a major Broadway project—one that has theatergoers and movie buffs buzzing with anticipation.

Reeves, making his Broadway debut, and Winter, returning to the stage after decades, will star in a new production of Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot at the Hudson Theatre. Previews begin September, with opening night set for September 28. The limited run is scheduled through January, 2026.

The casting is more than a nostalgic callback. Reeves will play Estragon, while Winter takes on Vladimir—two roles that mirror their real-life friendship and history. Both actors have said the project is deeply personal, with Winter noting, “We’re bringing ourselves to it,” and Reeves describing the experience as “crazy, inspired” and long overdue.

Their appearance at the Tonys, where they presented Best Actress in a Play, marked their first major public outing together since the last Bill & Ted film. Fans are eager to see how their chemistry translates from screen to stage in one of theater’s most enigmatic works.

Tickets for Waiting for Godot are already in high demand, with many expecting this reunion to be one of Broadway’s hottest tickets this fall.
