The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-4 on Thursday, October 15, at Dodger Stadium to win the National League Championship Series. The four-game sweep secured the Brewers' first pennant since 1982, when the team competed in the American League and played at County Stadium.
The Brewers will host Games 1 and 2 of the World Series at American Family Field in Milwaukee. The venue, formerly known as Miller Park, opened in 2001 and has never previously hosted a World Series game. Major League Baseball announced that Game 1 is scheduled for Friday, October 23, at the home field of the National League Championship Series champion.
The Brewers await the winner of the American League Championship Series between the Cleveland Guardians and the Tampa Bay Rays to determine their opponent. Cleveland currently leads the best-of-seven series 2-1. The Rays hold home-field advantage for the ALCS and AL Division Series, having finished with the best regular season record of any American League team at 98-64. Games 3, 4, and 5 of the World Series will be hosted by either Cleveland or Tampa Bay, depending on the ALCS outcome.
Because the Brewers and Dodgers finished first and second in wins during the regular season with 103 and 100 victories respectively, the team advancing to the World Series had already clinched home-field advantage. Fox will air the World Series in the United States.
