Villarreal to host Elche in LaLiga matchday nine

Villarreal CF is set to host Elche CF at the Estadio de la Cerámica on Saturday, October 17, 2026, for the ninth matchday of LaLiga EA Sports. The match is scheduled to kick off at 16:15 and will be officiated by Víctor García Verdura. This encounter marks a significant moment for both teams, with Villarreal seeking to maintain their momentum following a recent continental victory, while Elche aims to secure a result that helps them distance themselves from the relegation zone.

Villarreal manager Iñigo Pérez intends to provide continuity to his squad after a week of intense European competition. In contrast, Elche coach Martín Anselmi is focused on achieving a positive outcome to improve his team's standing. The match is described as a potential turning point for both clubs, with Villarreal arriving with boosted morale and offensive resources to exploit the spaces typically conceded by Elche.

Beyond the pitch, the Villarreal club has announced several institutional and organizational updates ahead of the fixture. The club has joined the LaLiga Delegated Commission, a body that also includes Barcelona and Real Madrid. Additionally, Villarreal will participate in Saturday's actions for World Breast Cancer Awareness Day. The club has also confirmed the date for the traditional presentation of all its teams and has made visitor tickets available for the upcoming league derby against Valencia CF at Mestalla, which is scheduled to take place seven days after the Elche match.

Elche's training sessions have seen the inclusion of Galician winger Yago de Santiago, who was a notable addition to the squad's preparation. Meanwhile, Elche's technical staff has highlighted the performance of midfielder Morcillo, who has been reconverted as a center-back, while also indicating that Argentine players Bigas and Lomónaco may receive playing time in the upcoming contest.
