Guardians host Rays in ALCS Game 4 after rain delay

The Cleveland Guardians will host the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday, October 17, for Game 4 of the American League Championship Series at Progressive Field. The contest was originally scheduled for Friday but was postponed due to rain in Cleveland. The Guardians currently hold a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series, with the winner advancing to face the Milwaukee Brewers in the World Series.

Right-handed pitcher Nick Martinez is set to start for the Tampa Bay Rays, while Shawn Armstrong will take the mound for the Cleveland Guardians. Martinez has recorded 15 wins and six losses with a 3.10 ERA in 31 starts this season. Armstrong has a 2-1 record and a 4.58 ERA across 41 games.

Guardians manager Stephen Vogt stated that the team is focused on winning games and moving on. The rainout erased the scheduled off day after Game 5, meaning the teams would play four games in four days if the series goes the distance. Tampa Bay is one of five MLB franchises that has never won a World Series title, while Cleveland’s last championship came in 1948.
