Dateline revisits Lori Vallow Daybell’s attempted murder of Brandon Boudreaux

NBC’s Dateline episode Blindsided revisits the attempted murder of Brandon Boudreaux by Lori Vallow Daybell and her brother Alex Cox. Boudreaux was the ex‑husband of Vallow’s niece, Melani Pawlowski.

According to ABC 4, Vallow was convicted in Idaho in 2023 on every charge brought against her and received a life‑in‑prison sentence. Chad Daybell was convicted in Idaho in 2024 of three counts of first‑degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and insurance fraud, and was sentenced to death.

In Arizona, Vallow’s first trial began on April 7, 2025, with charges of conspiring to murder her former husband, Charles Vallow, and she chose to represent herself. On April 22, 2025, an Arizona jury found Vallow guilty of conspiracy to commit first‑degree murder in Charles’s death.

Vallow was subsequently tried in June 2025 for the attempted murder of Brandon Boudreaux. She was found guilty on June 12, 2025, and on July 25, 2025 was sentenced to two additional consecutive life terms.

Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell discussed the possibility of additional charges in the attempted shooting of Boudreaux during an interview with Dateline correspondent Keith Morrison. The interview aired on Dateline on Friday at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT.
