Heat and Hornets Prepare for First Meeting After Lopsided Losses
Both the Miami Heat and the Charlotte Hornets are entering their first matchup of the season on Saturday night in Charlotte, N.C.
The Hornets are looking to rebound from a 128-81 drubbing by the Atlanta Hawks, a loss that left them trailing by as many as 49 points through three quarters.
"It's one loss on our record, ... we have to be better," said Charlotte guard Sion James.
The Heat come off a 128-111 defeat at the hands of the Detroit Pistons, a result that was closer than their 25-point opening‑night loss to Minnesota.
Miami gave up 41 first‑quarter points against the Timberwolves and 38 third‑quarter points to Detroit.
Newcomer Giannis Antetokounmpo contributed 36 points and 12 rebounds in the Pistons game.
Coach Erik Spoelstra said, "We want to establish our mentality," emphasizing early‑season development.
Charlotte coach Charles Lee noted the need to improve after allowing 97 points through three quarters to Atlanta.
Both teams are winless through two games as they seek to bounce back in the upcoming contest.
