Ohio State QB Julian Sayin Out Indefinitely as Buckeyes Enter Bye Week Ahead of USC Clash

The Ohio State Buckeyes secured a 19-15 victory over Indiana last Saturday, but the win came at a cost. Star quarterback Julian Sayin suffered a right (throwing) arm injury after being sacked in the fourth quarter and returned to the sideline in a sling.

Head coach Ryan Day later confirmed that Sayin is "out indefinitely" and will miss both the regular season and the postseason, stating, "We're not gonna put any timeline on his recovery."

With Sayin sidelined, backup Luke Fahey finished the Indiana game, and the Buckeyes must decide whether Fahey or former five‑star recruit Tavien St. Clair will assume the starting role moving forward.

The team now heads into a bye week, providing an extra practice period to evaluate the quarterback position. Ohio State currently sits at No. 3 in the national rankings and holds a 6‑1 overall record, 4‑0 in the Big Ten.

Upcoming Schedule

Following the bye, the Buckeyes are slated to travel west to face the USC Trojans. One source notes the matchup will occur on Saturday, Oct. 17 at the LA Memorial Coliseum, while another source lists the game on Oct. 24. The Trojans are ranked No. 16 heading into the contest.

After the USC game, Ohio State has five regular‑season games remaining, including a home game against Northwestern on Nov. 14.

Broadcast details for the USC game include a live telecast on NBC, with streaming options available through Fubo.
