Mavericks Host Spurs in Home Opener as Irving and Flagg Sit Out

The Dallas Mavericks will host the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday night at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

The matchup is the Mavericks’ home opener for the 2026-27 NBA season.

Kyrie Irving will not play in the Dallas Mavericks’ home opener Saturday night against the San Antonio Spurs.

Cooper Flagg will miss the Dallas Mavericks’ home opener against the San Antonio Spurs after being diagnosed with a mild left shoulder sprain.

The Mavericks earned their first win of the season on Friday night on the road against the Indiana Pacers, 121-105, before Flagg’s injury.

Following the injury, Flagg was ruled out for the rest of that game and will be re‑evaluated next week.

The team’s injury report released Saturday confirmed Flagg’s status as out for the upcoming home opener.
