South Carolina defeated No. 11 Tennessee 27-24 in a Week 8 game at Williams‑Brice Stadium in Columbia on Saturday, Oct. 24.

The Gamecocks tied the game at 24‑24 with 1:17 left when LaNorris Sellers took a third‑down run to the right from the Volunteers’ 4‑yard line, was hit short of the goal line, kept his feet, fell backward and stretched the ball across for the tying touchdown.

Malik Orsan then hit a 48‑yard field goal as time expired, giving South Carolina the 27‑24 victory and improving the team to 4‑3 overall and 2‑3 in the SEC.

"I've been watching football a long time. I have never seen anyone make the play LaNorris Sellers made here. Ever," NFL insider Jordan Schultz wrote on X.
"He's freakin unbelievable. The play he made to score that touchdown. Unreal, one of the great plays probably in the history of South Carolina football," Shane Beamer said after the game.

Before Saturday, South Carolina was 1‑28 under Beamer when trailing by seven or more points in the fourth quarter; Sellers’ run turned that statistic into a tie with 77 seconds remaining.

The loss caused Tennessee’s College Football Playoff odds to fall, according to market updates following the 27‑24 result.
