Petr Yan Retains Bantamweight Title in UFC 333 Trilogy Victory Over Merab Dvalishvili
Bantamweight champion Petr Yan defeated former titleholder Merab Dvalishvili in the UFC 333 co‑main event on Saturday in Abu Dhabi, securing a third‑meeting win.
The two first fought in March 2023 in Las Vegas, where Dvalishvili picked up a unanimous decision win that night, shutting Yan out on the scorecards. Yan avenged that loss at UFC 323, defeating Dvalishvili by unanimous decision, which set up the trilogy bout.
In the five‑round contest, all three judges scored the fight 48‑47 for Yan, allowing him to retain his bantamweight belt.
"I was listening to my coach, he said it was two‑two, you win the fifth round, you win the fight," Yan said after the decision.
"I can do better. Congratulations to Petr Yan … he beat me today, he's the better man," Dvalishvili said.
Yan’s performance featured superior striking and takedown defense after early success by Dvalishvili in the opening two rounds.
