Giants RB Cam Skattebo Penalized for Unnecessary Roughness in Win Over Texans
New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo was flagged for unnecessary roughness after he "trucked" Houston Texans safety M.J. Stewart.
The penalty occurred with 5:17 left in the first quarter of the Giants’ 27-21 Week 7 victory over the Texans on Sunday, October 25, 2026.
Officials ruled that Skattebo led with his helmet, wiping out a seven‑ to eight‑yard gain and costing the Giants 15 yards.
Former quarterback Drew Brees, former San Diego Chargers fullback Jacob Hester and Giants head coach John Harbaugh all posted reactions on social media, questioning the call.
"In between the tackle, are you kidding me?! Textbook tough physical run!" – Drew Brees
"Cam Skattebo getting called for unnecessary roughness as the BALL CARRIER is wild. You've got 11 dudes coming downhill with bad intentions trying to put you on the ground. But when you truck somebody in the hole, it's a penalty? Nah, that ain't it." – Jacob Hester
Skattebo said he will not change how he runs despite the penalty.
