Marvel talks with Connor Storrie to play Ghost Rider villain

Marvel Studios is negotiating with actor Connor Storrie to portray the primary antagonist in its upcoming Ghost Rider film, which stars Ryan Gosling.

Storrie, known for his role as Ilya Romanov in the series Heated Rivalry, is in discussions with Marvel, though the studio has not confirmed the character he would play.

The project is directed by Shawn Levy from a screenplay by Jonathan Tropper, with Levy and Gosling also serving as producers alongside Kevin Feige, Louis D'Esposito, and Stephen Broussard. Richie Palmer and Jessie Henderson are listed as executive producers.

Marvel announced the casting development at San Diego Comic‑Con this summer. Principal photography is scheduled to begin in New York in early 2027, ahead of the film’s planned release on July 28, 2028.

Gosling, who has pursued the role for years, told the Hall H crowd, "As you know, this is a character I've wanted to play for a very long time."

The Ghost Rider character, created in 1972 by writer Gary Friedrich, artist Mike Ploog, and editor Roy Thomas, follows stunt motorcyclist Johnny Blaze, who trades his soul to the demon Mephisto and bonds with the Spirit of Vengeance. Nicolas Cage previously headlined two Ghost Rider films in 2007 and 2011, and Marvel has not confirmed which version Gosling will portray.
