Brewers Capture First Franchise World Series Title with 4-1 Win over Rays

World Series Game 5

The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 in Game 5 of the 2026 World Series on Wednesday evening at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, clinching the franchise’s first World Series championship.

Jacob Misiorowski started for Milwaukee, delivering a 5.2‑inning shutdown effort that allowed just two hits on 86 pitches while mixing a 101‑mph fastball with a slider.

With two outs in the bottom of the sixth, Misiorowski left the mound due to a right calf cramp and walked off the field.

After the win, Misiorowski told Fox Sports, “Thank you. That’s it,” while manager Pat Murphy praised Wisconsin fans for their support.

Fans inside Tropicana Field erupted in chants and tears as the Commissioner’s Trophy was hoisted by the Brewers’ squad.

Milwaukee entered the series having lost only two games in the postseason and had swept the Los Angeles Dodgers, who carry the league’s highest payroll.

The Brewers captured the first three games of the series, dropped Game 4 after a 12th‑inning lead slipped, and rebounded in Game 5 to hold the lead for the entire contest.

Aaron Ashby made MLB history in Game 4, becoming the first pitcher to achieve the noted milestone.

The Tampa Bay Rays announced their starting pitcher for the Wednesday game, completing the final matchup of the series.
