Brewers advance to the 2026 World Series

Mark Attanasio was introduced as the Milwaukee Brewers’ new owner on Oct 4, 2004, when the franchise was 22 years removed from its 1982 World Series appearance.

Twenty‑two years later, the Brewers are in the 2026 World Series after sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series.

In Game 5 of the World Series, the Brewers held an early lead over the Tampa Bay Rays, with the Rays using presumptive starter Nick Martinez for two innings.

Earlier in the season, the Brewers were among the teams interested in acquiring Detroit Tigers pitcher Tarik Skubal before the 2026 trade deadline, though the Los Angeles Dodgers ultimately signed him.

"This team was built not bought," Attanasio told Joel Sherman and Jon Heyman, emphasizing a cautious approach to prospect assets during the Skubal pursuit.

He noted that Detroit presented a “best and final” offer and asked general manager Matt Arnold, “Are you sure, Matt?”

The current postseason run follows a stretch that began in 2018, during which the club qualified for the postseason eight times in nine years, captured six division titles and made three league‑championship appearances.
