South Dakota State Defeats South Dakota in Interstate Series Rivalry

South Dakota State rolled early and held on late to win the latest chapter of the in‑state rivalry on Saturday.

The contest featured No. 5 South Dakota State hosting No. 6 South Dakota on national TV.

The Jackrabbits entered the game with a 6‑2 record after a 42‑9 home victory over Murray State.

The Coyotes entered with a 7‑2 record after beating No. 9 North Dakota 26‑23 in overtime the previous week.

The winner would remain in control of its own destiny for at least a share of the Missouri Valley Football Conference title and gain an inside track to a bye and a potential top‑four seed in the FCS playoffs.
