Mayweather Schedules Bangkok Exhibition, Confirms 2027 Garcia Bout Amid Postponed Pacquiao Fight

Mayweather announces Bangkok exhibition and future Garcia fight

Retired boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr., who retired in 2017 after a victory over Conor McGregor, confirmed his intention to face welterweight champion Ryan Garcia in 2027.

Mayweather also announced an exhibition match against Australian fighter Matt Floyd, scheduled for December 19 in Bangkok. The bout, billed as the "Battle of the Floyds," will be an exhibition rather than a professional contest.

Matt Floyd, 37, has compiled a record of fifteen wins and two losses in seventeen low‑level professional fights since his 2021 debut. He earned a controversial disqualification victory over Anthony Taylor at a Misfits Boxing event in June 2026 and suffered a loss in his Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship debut against James Degale in September 2025.

Earlier this year, a deal to reignite Mayweather’s rivalry with Manny Pacquiao was announced, with Netflix initially confirming the fight. The matchup was later postponed indefinitely because of legal issues on Mayweather’s side.

Welterweight champion Ryan Garcia has said he is in talks to bring Mayweather out of retirement and reiterated that his own return is set for February 6. Garcia told Mayweather to "take or leave" the chance to challenge for his WBC title, a belt Mayweather has held twice during his career.
