Miami Takes No. 1 Spot as Ohio State Drops After USC Upset

College Football Rankings Shift After Week 9

Miami moved to the No. 1 position in the latest college football re‑rank released after Week 9.

Ohio State, which entered the week ranked No. 2 with a 6‑1 record, fell in the rankings after its second loss.

The Buckeyes were defeated 30‑18 by No. 18 USC, a game in which USC’s defense limited Ohio State after a 14‑3 first‑quarter lead.

The victory gave USC its first signature win of the season and kept the Trojans at 7‑2, maintaining their contention for a College Football Playoff berth.

Lincoln Riley was named the Paul “Bear” Bryant National Coach of the Week on Nov. 2.

The latest re‑rank reflects these changes, with Miami at the top and Ohio State dropping from its previous position.
