Google to Disable Gemini AI for Students by Default, Giving Schools Choice
Google announced that its Gemini artificial intelligence assistant will be disabled by default for student accounts, allowing schools to decide whether to enable the feature.
The change follows months of criticism from parents, teachers and elected officials regarding the use of the AI tool in education.
Google’s policy now lets each school determine if its students can access Gemini, rather than the assistant being automatically available.
