Atlanta Hawks Stun NBA: Landry Fields Out, But Who Is Onsi Saleh?

The Atlanta Hawks have made a dramatic move in their front office, firing general manager Landry Fields after a disappointing end to their NBA season. The decision comes on the heels of the Hawks missing the playoffs for the second consecutive year, finishing eighth in the Eastern Conference with a 40-4 record and falling short in the Play-In Tournament against the Orlando Magic and Miami Heat.

Taking over as GM is Onsi Saleh, previously the team's assistant general manager. Saleh, originally from Edmonton, Canada, joined the Hawks in May after stints with the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs. He brings a diverse background, holding degrees in biological sciences and history from the University of Alberta and a law degree from Tulane University. Saleh is now tasked with overseeing day-to-day basketball operations during a crucial offseason for the franchise.

The Hawks also announced they are searching for a new president of basketball operations, enlisting Sportsology Group to lead the process. Principal owner Tony Ressler emphasized the need for strategic direction and thanked Fields for his contributions over the past three years.

With big decisions ahead—including the future of star guard Trae Young—all eyes are on Saleh as he steps into the spotlight.
