Florida State defeats Boston College 31-24

Florida State beat Boston College 31-24 on Saturday in Boston, giving interim coach Rick Stockstill a win in his first game.

The Seminoles (4-5, 2-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) earned their first road victory since Nov. 25, 2023.

Freshman Amari Thomas rushed for two touchdowns, his second an 11‑yard run that put Florida State ahead with 2:29 left in the fourth quarter.

Quarterback Ashton Daniels completed 15 of 26 passes for 178 yards and threw an interception.

Boston College quarterback Mason McKenzie completed 15 of 27 passes for 166 yards, threw two touchdowns and one interception.

With the game tied at 24‑all, Florida State marched 90 yards in 14 plays before Thomas’s go‑ahead score.

Boston College executed a trick play in the third quarter, spinning the offense before an underhanded pass to Javarius Green for a two‑yard touchdown that gave the Eagles a 24‑21 lead.

McKenzie was shaken up and left midway through the third quarter, returning the next series.

Stockstill said, “This was emotional for me today,” adding that he “poured my heart and soul into this place as a player.”
