Twins vs. Red Sox: Triston Casas Injury Leaves Boston Searching for Answers
Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas suffered a significant left knee injury during Friday night’s 6-1 win over the Minnesota Twins at Fenway Park. The 25-year-old collapsed after colliding with Twins first baseman Ty France while hustling to beat out an infield grounder in the second inning. Medical staff attended to Casas on the field before he was stretchered off and transported to a local hospital for evaluation
Manager Alex Cora described the injury as “significant,” with further tests pending. Casas, who missed much of last season with a rib injury, had been struggling early in 202, hitting just .182 with three home runs and 11 RBIs in 29 games
Romy Gonzalez replaced Casas at first base. With no clear backup at the position, the Red Sox may consider shifting Rafael Devers from designated hitter to first, especially after the recent addition of Alex Bregman at third base The team’s lineup flexibility could be further tested if Casas faces another lengthy absence.
