Kentucky Oaks 2025: Undefeated Filly Steals the Show-But By How Much?
Good Cheer lived up to her name and the hype, storming to victory in the 151st Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs on Friday evening. The 3-year-old filly, now a perfect 7-for-7 in her career, surged past the competition on a rain-soaked track, crossing the finish line with an unofficial time of 1:50.
Jockey Luis Saez kept Good Cheer in a strong position throughout the race, making a decisive move as the field turned for home. She powered away from a trio of contenders, ultimately winning by more than two lengths. “She’s so special. We were confident-she brings it every time,” Saez said after the race
Longshots Drexel Hill (32-1) and Bless the Broken (18-1) completed the trifecta, finishing second and third respectively. The win payouts were $4.78 for Good Cheer, with Drexel Hill rewarding place bettors at $2.02
Trainer Brad Cox celebrated his third Kentucky Oaks victory, noting Good Cheer’s affinity for the Churchill Downs dirt. “She loves Churchill, she can run on anything. I’m not certain what her ceiling is,” Cox remarked, hinting at bigger targets ahead, possibly including the Breeders’ Cup
The $1. million Grade 1 Oaks, the first leg of the Filly Triple Crown, once again showcased the sport’s brightest young stars-leaving fans eager to see just how far Good Cheer can go this season
