CJ Cup Byron Nelson Leaderboard Shocker: Who’s Chasing Scheffler’s Record Pace?

Scottie Scheffler is running away with the 2025 CJ Cup Byron Nelson, holding a commanding six-shot lead at 18-under after two rounds at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas The Dallas native, seeking his first win of the season, fired an opening-round 61 and followed with a bogey-free 6, shattering the tournament’s 36-hole scoring record and coming within one stroke of the all-time PGA Tour mark

A lengthy weather delay on Friday left half the field scrambling to finish their second round, but Scheffler’s dominance was never in doubt. Sam Stevens sits in second at 12-under, while Ricky Castillo and Jhonattan Vegas are among those trying to keep pace as the weekend rounds begin

Jordan Spieth, also a Dallas local and fan favorite, is well back at 6-under after struggling to match Scheffler’s torrid scoring Defending champion Taylor Pendrith is flirting with the cut line at 4-under

With 36 holes to play and soft conditions yielding low scores, all eyes are on whether anyone can catch Scheffler-or if he’ll cruise to a hometown victory that has eluded him in past seasons The action resumes with live coverage from 3-6 p.m. on CBS.
