Golden State’s playoff hopes took a dramatic turn Tuesday night as Stephen Curry left Game 1 against the Minnesota Timberwolves with a left hamstring strain, casting immediate uncertainty over the Warriors’ second-round series.
Curry, 3, exited early in the second quarter after scoring 13 points in just 13 minutes. He was seen grabbing the back of his leg following a floater before heading straight to the locker room. The Warriors quickly ruled him out for the remainder of the game, and head coach Steve Kerr later confirmed Curry is considered day-to-day pending the results of an MRI scheduled for Wednesday
The injury comes at a challenging time for Golden State, who had only one day of rest after a grueling seven-game series against Houston. With a condensed schedule-just one day off between the first five games-Curry’s recovery window is extremely limited Hamstring strains are notoriously unpredictable, and Kerr admitted it’s “hard to imagine” Curry being available for Game 2.
Despite Curry’s absence, the Warriors managed a 99-88 victory, thanks to strong performances from Draymond Green and timely shooting. However, the team’s offensive rhythm and playoff ambitions are now in question, with Curry’s dynamic playmaking and leadership sorely missed if he’s forced to sit out
Fans and analysts alike are anxiously awaiting the MRI results, as Golden State’s championship aspirations may hinge on how quickly their superstar can recover.
