Disney’s Next Castle? What’s Really Coming to Yas Island, Abu Dhabi

The Walt Disney Company has officially revealed plans for a groundbreaking new theme park and resort on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi-a first for the Middle East and Disney’s seventh global destination CEO Bob Iger described the project as “the most technologically advanced theme park that we’ve ever built,” promising a blend of Disney magic and Abu Dhabi’s futuristic vision

Unlike any previous Disney resort, the park will feature a waterfront location and a modern, crystal-inspired castle as its centerpiece, departing from the classic fairytale style Disney Imagineers are leading the creative design, while Abu Dhabi’s Miral will fully finance, develop, and operate the site

The park aims to attract visitors from across the Middle East, Asia, and beyond, leveraging Abu Dhabi’s status as a global crossroads Disney will not invest capital but will earn royalties, while Miral brings experience from projects like Warner Bros. World and Ferrari World on Yas Island

No opening date has been announced, but the project marks a major strategic move for Disney as it expands its international footprint and redefines what a Disney park can be
