Are the Chiefs Out of the Playoffs?

The Kansas City Chiefs, a perennial NFL playoff contender, find themselves in a precarious position as the 2025 season nears its conclusion. With a 6-6 record, the Chiefs are on the brink of missing the playoffs for the first time in over a decade. The team's recent loss to the Cowboys has significantly impacted their playoff chances, dropping their odds from 52% to 35%.

The Chiefs' playoff hopes now hinge on a perfect run in their remaining games. Winning all their remaining games would put them at 11-5, but even this scenario might not be enough to secure a playoff spot. The team's path to the postseason is fraught with challenges, and their chances of making it are now at a mere 46%.

Head coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes have acknowledged the tough road ahead. Mahomes summed up the team's situation, stating, "You've got to win every game now -- and hope that's enough". The Chiefs' playoff picture is further complicated by the performance of other teams in the AFC. The Chiefs' recent win over the Colts in Week 12 provided a glimmer of hope, but it was not enough to significantly boost their playoff chances.

The Chiefs' playoff chances are now on life support, and their season outlook is uncertain. With only a handful of games left, the team must navigate a challenging schedule and hope for favorable results from their competitors. The Chiefs' playoff picture is a testament to the unpredictable nature of the NFL, where even the most dominant teams can find themselves on the brink of elimination.
