Monfils vs Draper: The Unexpected Twist That Stunned Roland-Garros

French tennis icon Gaël Monfils faced off against Britain’s rising star Jack Draper in a dramatic second-round clash at Roland-Garros 2025. Despite the electric atmosphere and vocal Parisian support for the 38-year-old Monfils, Draper delivered a composed and powerful performance to claim victory in four sets, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.

Monfils, known for his flair and resilience, managed to push Draper with a strong second set but ultimately couldn’t match the Briton’s consistency and shot-making in the key moments. Draper, seeded fifth, showcased why he’s considered one of the most promising talents on the tour, maintaining his focus under pressure and silencing the home crowd with his decisive play.

This result marks a significant milestone for Draper, who continues his impressive run in Paris, while Monfils exits after another memorable night session on Court Philippe-Chatrier. Fans will now watch closely as Draper advances, wondering if this victory could be the start of a deep Grand Slam run for the young Brit.
