June SSI Payments: Why Your Social Security Check May Arrive Early
Millions of Americans relying on Supplemental Security Income (SSI) will notice a shift in their June payment schedule this year. Due to June falling on a weekend, the Social Security Administration (SSA) will issue June SSI payments on Friday, May 30, instead of the usual first of the month.
For most recipients, this means two SSI payments in May—one on May (for May) and another on May 30 (for June). There will be no SSI payment issued in June itself.
Key Details:.
-
SSI payments are typically made on the first of each month, but when that date lands on a weekend, the payment is advanced to the prior business day.
-
Social Security retirement, disability, and survivor benefits are paid based on the recipient’s birth date, usually on the second, third, or fourth Wednesday of each month.
-
For those who began receiving Social Security before May 1997 or receive both Social Security and SSI, Social Security is paid on the 3rd and SSI on the 1st.
The maximum federal SSI benefit for 2025 is $967 for an individual and $1,450 for a couple, reflecting a.5% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) that began in January 2025.
Recipients are encouraged to check their "my Social Security" account for payment updates and to confirm deposit dates. If a payment is more than three days late, the SSA advises contacting them directly for assistance.
