The 2025 Oxford Regional finale between Ole Miss baseball and Murray State delivered a dramatic finish that left fans stunned and eager for answers.
Ole Miss, the top seed and national powerhouse, stormed into Monday night’s winner-take-all matchup after routing Murray State 19-8 the night before. The Rebels, boasting a 43-20 record, looked poised to punch their ticket to the Super Regional after clawing back through the loser’s bracket Murray State, however, had already proven dangerous, having upset Ole Miss 9-6 in the regional opener.
In the championship game, Murray State jumped ahead early, building a commanding 12-3 lead by the seventh inning. Ole Miss mounted a furious comeback, sending ten batters to the plate and scoring five runs in the seventh, but ultimately fell short in a 12-11 heartbreaker The loss ended Ole Miss’s season in front of a stunned home crowd, while Murray State advanced to the Super Regional for the first time in program history.
