Ben Roberts: The Unlikely Hero of Texas Tech's Football Season

The 2025 football season has been an eventful one for Texas Tech, marked by the continued success of head coach Joey McGuire and the emergence of Ben Roberts as a key player for the Red Raiders.

Joey McGuire, the head football coach at Texas Tech University since 2022, has been instrumental in shaping the team's success. McGuire's coaching philosophy, honed during his previous stints at Baylor and Cedar Hill High School, has brought a high school coaching mentality to the college level, fostering an environment of discipline and teamwork. His leadership has led to a significant breakthrough for the Red Raiders, positioning them as contenders in the Big 12 conference.

In a pivotal move, Texas Tech and McGuire agreed to a seven-year, $7 million annual contract extension, solidifying his commitment to the program through the 2032 season. This extension underscores the University's confidence in McGuire's leadership and his vision for the team's future. The contract, which includes substantial incentives, ensures that McGuire will remain a cornerstone of the Red Raiders' program for years to come.

One of the standout performers this season has been Ben Roberts, who has made significant contributions to the team's success. Roberts' performances have been crucial in key games, showcasing his talent and versatility on the field. However, the team faced a setback when they lost to a formidable opponent in the Big 12 conference this year. Despite this loss, the team's overall performance has been impressive, bolstered by McGuire's strategic coaching and the dedication of players like Roberts.

The Red Raiders' success is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire team, supported by substantial financial backing from boosters. This financial support has enabled the team to invest in top-tier facilities and resources, further enhancing their competitive edge in the Big 12 conference.

The season has been marked by intense rivalries and thrilling matchups, with the team showcasing their resilience and determination.
