Coastal Carolina punched its ticket to the 2025 College World Series, sweeping Auburn in the Super Regional with a 4-1 victory on Saturday. The Chanticleers, now riding a 23-game winning streak, became the first team to secure a spot in Omaha and will make their second-ever CWS appearance—their first since winning the national title in 2016.
Auburn took an early 1-0 lead, but Coastal Carolina broke through in the seventh inning with a three-run rally sparked by Sebastian Alexander’s leadoff double and Walker Mitchell’s game-tying RBI single. Auburn miscues and a hit-by-pitch allowed two more runs to score, and Mitchell added an insurance RBI in the eighth Jacob Morrison and Hayden Johnson combined for nine strong innings on the mound, holding Auburn to just one run and scattering eight hits.
Coastal Carolina University is located in Conway, South Carolina, just minutes from Myrtle Beach. The Chanticleers now await their CWS matchup, hoping to duplicate their 2016 championship run as the national spotlight shifts to Omaha.
