Brighton Beats Crystal Palace 3-0 with Halfway-Line Goal from Diego Gomez

Brighton & Hove Albion defeated Crystal Palace 3-0 at the Amex Stadium in the Premier League M23 derby on Sunday, October 18, 2026.

Palace defender Jaydee Canvot scored an own goal four minutes into the match, giving Brighton the opening lead.

Yasin Ayari added Brighton’s second goal in the 10th minute, marking the Seagulls’ 21st league goal of the season.

Diego Gomez scored from inside the centre circle, a 51‑metre strike that passed over goalkeeper Walter Benitez and became the furthest Premier League goal since Wayne Rooney’s 58‑metre effort in November 2017.

The goal was Gomez’s first of the campaign, his 10th appearance, and his 12th in 66 games for Brighton since joining from Inter Miami in 2025.

The win moved Brighton one point above Arsenal in the Premier League table.
