Apple Unveils First Touchscreen MacBook Pro with M5 Pro/Max Chips
Apple announced its first touchscreen MacBook Pro during an event in Los Angeles on October 28, 2026, presented by CEO John Ternus. The new laptops are offered in 14‑inch and 16‑inch sizes and feature tandem OLED screens branded PROLED XDR.
Both models are powered by Apple‑designed M5 Pro or M5 Max chips. Touch controls let users swipe through webpages, zoom into photographs, move presentation slides and resize windows directly on the screen, while still supporting existing keyboard shortcuts and trackpad gestures.
Apple’s chief hardware officer Johny Srouji described the device as a “monumental step forward for the Mac.” The company added a redesigned hinge to improve stability during touchscreen use, and macOS automatically converts taps into clicks so existing applications can respond to touch without modification.
Dynamic Island is integrated into the MacBook Pro, providing access to search, live updates and Siri AI. Apple advertises up to 24 hours of battery life in a thinner, lighter design.
Pre‑orders are open, and sales are scheduled to begin on November 6, 2026.
