Tyrese Maxey leads 76ers past Hornets 109-104 at Spectrum Center

Tyrese Maxey scored 38 points as the Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Charlotte Hornets 109–104 on Saturday night.

Anfernee Simons contributed 19 points off the bench for Philadelphia, while Jaylen Brown, who was a game‑time decision, added 16 points.

The game was played before a sellout crowd of 19,533 at the Spectrum Center, and the 76ers did not field stars LeBron James or Joel Embiid, who were rested after the team’s 98–93 win over the New York Knicks.

For Charlotte, Grayson Allen scored 27 points on 7‑of‑10 three‑point shooting and Brandon Miller added 24 points, hitting five three‑pointers.

With five minutes remaining, Miller blocked V.J. Edgecombe’s layup, then delivered a bounce pass to Moussa Diabate for a dunk that put the Hornets ahead 97–90.

The 76ers responded, with Simons’ two baskets narrowing the gap and Maxey hitting a pair of free throws with 1:22 left to give Philadelphia the lead for good.

Edgecombe later hit a three‑pointer to push the Hornets within four, but Maxey’s free throws with 24 seconds left extended the lead to six points.

Miller cut the deficit to three with seven seconds remaining, and Brown sealed the outcome by making two free throws with 5.2 seconds left.

Philadelphia shot 40% from three‑point range, while Charlotte made 15 of 23 free throws.
